Is my Thermostat programmed correct its a White Rodgers model #1578?
I went through the motions as directed in the manual. I set each starting period to 3:30pm at 61 degrees. We dont need the heat on during the morning so I am just curious if that is set correctly? I want the heat to turn off in the morning and turn back on around 3:30pm. I am just not sure since there seems to be no way to have it shut off at a certain time and back on at 3:30pm? Or am I just doing this wrong?

Actually my thermostat shows 68 degrees and a start time for all periods of 6am, this was brand new out of the box. Is it better to just turn the temp up when we are home and down before we leave?
your t stat should have two to four set time for one day. if 330 is your on time then when ever you dont want it on , we'll say 1200, you should set this temp much lower. you can not turn the system on and off automatically with programing. So to make the system shut off just set the temp at a much lower temp. I don't recommend doing this with very cold temps outside because you could end up with frozen pipes.
