When it comes to choosing a fan to cool your home or room there are a multitude of different options available. Thanks to there being so many quality and well made fans around you might struggle when it comes to the task or narrowing it down to a single fan.
Ceiling fans are very popular and come in many different designs in order to fit in with your current d©cor. This is important because you don't want your ceiling fan to not match with the other fitting you have in your house already. Having a fan in the middle of a room is going to be an advantage when it comes to cooling the room. You will feel the benefit of having the fan placed centrally as it will be able to spread air right into the corners. You can also get ceiling fans fitted with a light meaning you are saving on buying a new light fixture. The speed settings of the fan are crucial to allow you to get the desired temperature.
Obviously there will be some extra costs for having the fan professionally installed but this is a necessity. Most often this type of fan is fitted in conservatories in which case a fully qualified electrician needs to be used in order to comply with safety standards. Of course this means that you could also elect to have the fan wired up to a switch on the wall to save you having to use the pull cord all the time.
Alternative types of fans for your home include the pedestal fan and drum fan these are not dissimilar for desk fans but are larger in size. Taking a look at the pedestal fan you will see that it is like a desk fan only taller and larger. Thanks to the larger size these fans are good for cooling a room down. These fans are very easy to setup aswell you just plug them into the power outlet and away you go. Some nice features about these types of fans are that you can set them to swivel thus providing cool air to a larger area.
Attaching a small fan to the wall without damaging the wall?
As a college student, I'm living in the dorm. I would like to attach a small fan to the wall for when I sleep, but don't want to damage the wall. Any suggestions?
I suggest you go ahead and screw the fan to the wall properly and fill and touch up the paint when you leave..small holes are not that hard to fix.
A decade removed from Steve Spurrier, Florida Gators treat South Carolina as just another game (St. Petersburg Times)

GAINESVILLE -- In the 10 years since former Florida coach Steve Spurrier left
Gainesville, a lot has changed.
The Gators have won two national titles, had three head coaches and added
another Heisman Trophy winner.
But time ensures that nothing stays the same, and in the case of Florida and
Spurrier, that's a good thing.
A decade after Spurrier left for the NFL, then took a job at SEC East rival
South Carolina, animosity, hurt feelings and torn allegiances have subsided.
Enough time has passed that the Gators and Gamecocks can play -- and it's
simply just another game on the schedule, both sides believe.
"Well, I think so," Florida coach Will Muschamp said when asked if the rivalry
is simply about the game now. "I think everybody in the Gator Nation
appreciated what he did for our school and what he did here. He did an
outstanding job starting as a player, and then as a coach."
So when Florida and South Carolina meet on Saturday in Columbia the game will
primarily be about a Florida team still trying to become bowl eligible and a
South Carolina ...
