Continuing Innovations In Modern Scuba Equipment
For the novice diver, finding the perfect scuba equipment can be frustrating because so much of it looks interesting and even cool. You can really make a fashion statement with your wetsuit, alone, if you wanted to do that. But most divers are not overly concerned with that aspect; they wisely want to find high quality equipment that is reliable. One word of caution concerns buying used dive gear only because it is used. Also, depending on the type of equipment, you really cannot always be completely certain about the condition of the inner parts. Personally, we always recommend buying new at least until you are at the point where you have enough experience.
There are two basic types of equipment configurations involved with scuba diving. What you need will depend on the application, diving conditions and the purpose of your dive.
The most commonly used configuration for recreational divers is the open-circuit set-up. The closed-circuit, or semi-closed circuit, is often called a rebreather configuration. This particular type was the first to exist, it preceded the open-circuit, however it is not used as much as the open-circuit. In the closed-circuit, the diver will breathe back into the equipment, and then the exhaled gas is made fit to breathe again.
Air tanks are commonly associated with all scuba divers, and most people understand the purpose. Typically, these air tanks are made of stainless steel; most of the time they are provided in different sizes to fit the various divers that will use them. Due to the fact that all dives are very different, varied cylinders have been made to compensate. The construction of the cylinders has an effect on the amount available for each diver that uses them. Depending upon whether or not the cylinders are used in the US or Europe, the cylinder designations can be very diverse. Inside each cylinder that is from the United States is one atmosphere of pressure or 1 Atm representing a full tank. The same cylinder in Europe would be measured in terms of the volume of air inside.
Though not for the rank beginning divers in our opinion, technical diving is spell-bounding. Different scuba equipment that have to be had for this, are numerous containers of special gases. When diving at deep levels for example, Trimix is one type of gas used. And oxygen contained in a cylinder could be transported and made useful during the ascension and decompression stopping points. Needless to say, the additional cylinders could account for certain issues in attaining effectual buoyancy. For this reason you will witness technical divers dressed in high capacity buoyancy compensator (BC).
Diving certainly would not be the same, and definitely less safe, without instruments such as the dive computer. Diving gear has definitely grown by leaps and bounds as technology continues to move forward in a positive direction. It is important that you spend money on the most reliable model, otherwise you may end up with a piece of junk that will do you no good and put you at potential risk.

Official: Nissan unveils new NV3500 HD passenger van (Autoblog)
Used to be if you wanted a proper full-size van, you were looking at something
made in Detroit. But just as the Japanese have taken on the full-size pickup
market, so are they going after the big van segment. That currently falls to
Nissan and its NV range, and the Japanese automaker is showing no signs of
relenting.
After preparing the smaller NV for duty as New York City's future taxi of
choice, Nissan has now launched an even bigger version of the van. The NV3500
HD Passenger Van (that's heavy duty, not high definition) is being built
alongside its chassis-mates right here in the United States at Nissan's
Canton, Mississippi, assembly plant, packing all the features and
specifications you'd expect from its Big 3 rivals (or, for that matter, from
the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter).
That means a flexible twelve-passenger cabin that can, with four rows of
seating, be configured in any of 324 arrangements. There are two engine
options on offer - a 4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 with 261 horsepower and 281
pound-feet of torque and a DOHC 32-valve V8 with 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft
of torque - both offering variable ...
