Getting Started In Wine Making: The Essential Wine Making Supplies

The Cost Effectiveness

Wine making supplies are generally inexpensive and often pay for themselves. After all, every bottle of wine you make is a bottle of wine you do not have to purchase! And, keep in mind you do not have to make the wine for your own self consumption. Often, you can make and bottle your own wine to give away as wedding, birthday and Christmas gifts. Often, there will be those people who do not see the need for wine making supplies due to having a "what am I going to do with all that wine" attitude. When one examines the gift giving value of wine making supplies then these individuals see the proverbial light of the extra value associated with them.

Containers will also be needed for use during the fermentation process, one at least with four gallon capacity made of food grade material such as plastic, as well as secondary fermentation bottles, usually one-gallon and made of glass. Another important part of the wine making materials is a rubber cork with an airlock to fit the secondary fermentation jugs.

Acid test kits are also useful, although not necessary, and help by determining acid levels. They will be particularly helpful if you are making your wine from fresh grape juice or wild fruits, because there tends to be more acid present in these wines.

Those not using a wine making kit can find most of the other wine making supplies in a winemaking supply store. Wine yeast, nutrient for the yeast as well as pectin enzyme and grape tannin will be needed during most processes.

Despite the large list of wine making supplies that is needed, remember that most of the equipment and some of the materials can be used repeatedly. Ingredients will have to be replenished as needed, but the equipment, once cleaned and sanitized can be used numerous times as well as for making a variety of wines.

Louise, the first “test-tube baby,” was born in 1978. How do you think it would feel to be the first baby conceived by IVF? Do you think it has had an effect on her life?

Honestly, I think it would be weird. As if nothing you did in your life could measure up to the unique way in which you were conceived.

Ragley Piglet X7 – First ride (with video) review (Bike Radar)

Ragley's hardtails were originally only available as frames. Times are
a-changing though, and there are now four complete bikes available – two Blue
Pigs and two Piglets. We took the lower specced and cheapest of the lot, the
Piglet X7, out for a spin.

**Ride & handling: Bit of a porker but a beast at speed**

Getting the Piglet up to speed in its X7 guise isn’t necessarily the
sprightliest of affairs, due to its burly 12.6kg (28lb) build. But when you
eventually get there, this bike is something of a beast.

The relaxed head angle helps bolster confidence on steeper terrain, and coupled
with lengthy chainstays really lets you attack the trail without any of that
twitchiness that can scare many riders into reaching for the brakes.

Our medium test sample offered our 5ft 8in rider the perfect top tube length
for a real all-round performer – enough length to climb comfortably, and when
mated with the stubby Ragley stem, plenty of control when you want to get a
bit wilder.

The RockShox Recon fork is pretty basic, but does the job, with the lockout
coming in handy. But, due to the Piglet's yearning for ...
