I have question about my Hermit Crabs.?
I just recently moved into my own house. I wanted to get a pet, but don't have the time for a dog, so I decided to get 2 Hermit Crabs. They are doing fine. I bought them a 10 gallon tank with everything they need. I also bought a thermometer to keep the temperature and humidity in check, since I have never taken care of these kinds of creatures. I don't bother them. I just let them be, but I would like to know if there is by chance a temp regulator I can get for their tank. I know they are supposed to be kept in a temp of at least 70 degrees F with 70 % humidity. It is that now, but how can I maintain that without worrying about the overall temp in my house?
I check on them, replace their water & food each day, but I do not poke at them or handle them....not since I brought them home. They seem to be happy. They walk around, they will look at me when I'm looking at them. The humidity is great, but the temp is stuck at 70. How can I increase the temp, but not the humidity?
You can buy a heating pad that you stick underneath the tank. The tank should actually be more around 82F, then 70F. Make sure you provide fresh and salt water which is essential for successfully molts. Also you might want to think about adding 2 more hermit crabs because they are very social. Also spray the tank once or twice a day with water to keep the humidity up.

EDIT: Don't use a heating lamp with hermit crabs. Also heating pads are probably less expensive then heating lamps.
