Anyone own the 2008 Ninja 250, where is the fuel tap?
I'm new to riding, recently purchased 08 Ninja 250, I was lookin for the fuel tap valve but couldn't find it. The manual says it's on the left side, but i cant seem to find it, do i have to remove the cover in order to see it? Also, there is only two position said in the manual, the "on" and "prime" position. Is it ok to keep it "on" the entire time even during storage time? Thank you in advance
In the onwner's manual, pg 36, FUEL TAP: behind the left side cover. "PRI" position is only useful for completely draining the tank. "ON" position for normal use. There is no "STANDBY" position. I guess they figure the fuel guage should be enough to keep you informed of the fuel level. The "WARNING" on page 37 doesn't seem to make much sense. It says you should be able to operate the fuel switch without taking your eyes off the road... I wonder if you can get the side panel off without taking your eyes off the road too? At any rate, maybe if you read those 2 pages about 3 or 4 times and made allowances for the Taiwanese interpreter's headache at the time, you might be able to figure out when and how to Prime the fuel system. I have had my 250 for 3 weeks and haven't needed to prime it yet. The dealer told me that the fuel shuts off automatically when the engine stops, and that the vacuum from the engine allows fuel to enter the carbs. And that the PRIme position is needed only if you run out of gas and need to get it flowing again. Hopefully the guage will continue to work fine and I will never have to prime it. Regards, Sherm
