Two Solutions To Speed Up Windows XP Boot
So far, Windows XP ranks high in the list of the top OS, thanks to its excellent visual enhancement and speed. It boasts of boot up speed of around 30 seconds and faster depending on the capacity of your computer. But many people find the need to speed up Windows XP boot. This happens because its great features, if not set properly, use up plenty of computer resources and slow the pc down.
If you don’t update your pc regualalry, you will find that Windows XP is somewhat hard to work with. Good thing is, there are solutions to slow Windows XP boot up time.
Disable the unimportant programs that run as your pc boots up.
Like a file cabinet, for example, a computer packs up things as it is used. Your hard disk which was almost 90% clean when you bought your computer now has lower than 15% free disk space and your startup folder which previously has very too few programs in it is now packed with too many files. If it is not your habit to regularly check and clean unessential programs in the various nooks of your pc, you are likely to end up with one that takes forever to boot.
The good things is, the solution to a congested pc is easy – decongest it, removers all the unnecessary files in it. To do this, click START, hit RUN and use the MSCONFIG tool, from there disable all programs that you don’t want initializing while your pc boots up. Fully delete the programs by right-clicking the nonessential icons in the Startup folder. It is also not a bad idea to change the settings of the entries in the Scheduled Tasks folder.
And while you're at it, reconfigure the contents of the Services tab that sits right next to the Startup folder. Some software developers, to ensure that their programs are always ready in one click, configure their programs to run in the background. These services are processes that aid the OS or provide background support to particular applications. Now, these may be set to instantly initialized during boot up, thereby clogging the list of files and programs that are started during boot up. Altering the settings of the various services that operate in your pc via the Services tab could easily resolve this problem. If you are not sure of the effects that may result from changing the settings of some services, consult the services management console.
Tip: When changing a setting or when disabling a program, change only those that you are familiar with, if not leave it.
Remove the unnecessary hardware devices.
There are a lot of hardware devices that line up during startup. Some of these are crucial to the entire operation of your computer, some are not. While the way these devices are loaded are much faster now as compared to previous years when these are loaded in series, it is still very possible to bog down your computer if there are too many devices to load simultaneously. Manage the devices through the Device Manager tool efficiently.
There are plenty of other things you can do to speed up Windows XP boot up time. And a few changes here and there can virtually change the speed of your pc.
How to Adjust blower fan speed on a Lennox G40UH(X) Series furnance?
How to Adjust blower fan speed on a Lennox G40UH(X) Series....anyone? I know it can be done as a neighbor told me his repair guy adjusted his up a bit, but did not know how, or what he did.....
I found the manual, and I think I'm maxed out for blower speed. High is labeled black, and that is what is connected....oh well.....
Most blower fan motors have multiple power ins on them that range in different color wiring, usually about 4-6, each color is a fan speed.
Your feedback = changes at Taft (cincinnati)
Fans of the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops who attended the grand reopening of
the Taft Theatre on Sept. 12 were asked to fill out surveys about their
experience. Because of your suggestions, the orchestra is making several
changes and additions. Perhaps most notable for the orchestra, which will play
there during the 2013-14 season while [...]
