Receiving Your Degree Is Easier Than Ever For A Career As A Mechanic

The car industry has made a resolution to move to much more energy efficient cars over the near future. This has created an incredible opportunity for students thinking of pursuing an education ranging anywhere from research and engineering to the technical aspect of the STEM applications.

As such, many of the leaders in the automotive industry are stepping up and assisting in financing these potential employees' educations. The number of grants and scholarships they have produce can appeal to those just straight out of high school to doctoral candidates. Below is just a little of what these organizations have to offer. Taking the time to research online college classes and the many programs that are available can help to make college more affordable.

Probably the biggest player when it comes to engineers and technicians is the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This professional society has teamed up with a number of major car manufacturers to offer about six different types of scholarships to future car designers and mechanics of the world.

The most popular are the Engineering Scholarship Grants. To qualify, a student must have a 3.75 grade point average, be enrolled in an acknowledge college or university and aiming on a BS in some form of automotive-related engineering. He or she must also provide financial records. There is also the TMC/SAE Donald D. Dawson Technical Scholarship. This is open for students planning on being automotive technicians and also accepts students going for associate’s degrees. In both cases, the grant is $1,500 a year until graduation.

As the automotive and STEM careers are heavily male dominated, the Automotive Women’s Alliance created its own program. Its scholarship is open to any woman just graduating from high school up to working on her post-graduate degree, just as long as she commits to working in the car industry upon graduating. As long as a woman meets her qualifying criteria, the AWA can award her as much as $2,500 a year. Keeping abreast of the latest information about mechanic course may mean quicker success.

A big segment inside the car industry is the aftermarket. They are in need of technicians and engineers as much as the primary manufacturers. The Automotive Parts and Service Association of Illinois hands out six scholarships of $500 each to students interested in this arena. Applicants must be high school graduates and enrolled in a vocational or academic school on a full time basis. The amount awarded is good for up to four years.

There is also the Special Equipment Market Association’s (SEMA) Memorial Scholarship. It also targets students interested in pursuing careers in the car aftermarket and related fields. Its requirements include having a 2.5 grade average and having already accumulated 25 credit hours of schooling in an acknowledged trade or vocational school. Its awards are very need based, generally ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 a year.

This list of scholarships is merely a sample of what is out there. Students interested in the field should get on the web to see what else might appeal to them. As it stands, there are many much more specialized programs that just might be of interest. Further, with the overhaul the automotive industry is currently undergoing, once one graduates, there should be plenty interested in him or her. Taking the time to research mechanics courses online and the many programs that are available can help to make college more affordable.

Why do I have Black Beard Algae?

I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 male betta fish (divided) and it has a bunch of fake silk plants and two tiny decorative castles; one on each side of the tank. My 5 gallon tank has 1 ADF and 1 male betta, but no decorations save an ugly cave.

So anyway, in my 10g, my betta Sparky never uses his castle so I decided to move it into my 5g. Once I put it in I noticed some BBA. I immediately removed it and went over to my 10g and saw some BBA on the other castle and one of the silk plants; along with some brown algae in the corner!

I don't own any live plants. But my 10 gallon gets a lot of indirect sunlight. Is too much light the cause of my BBA? And can BBA spread quickly? Because I don't want BBA to start growing in my 5g.

I know how to remove brown algae but not black beard algae. I'm searching safe ways to remove it but only two solutions have come up and I don't like either of them (SAE and CO2 control). D:

and yes my tanks all have filters, thermometers, and heaters.

I have a similar problem - black beard algae hitched a ride on one of my terracotta pots when I first set up my tank, and ended up taking over, even with low light. It can spread quickly, but it is easy to get rid of.
Get yourself some Seachem Flourish Excel. It's a liquid CO2 supplement, but it doubles as a pesticide (can cause damage to elodea). Get a small syringe - I use a 1ml syringe - and load it up with Excel. Turn your filter and aerator (if you have one) and put the nozzle of the syringe right up against the aglae and shoot the Excel at it. Leave the filter off for an hour.
Do this every day and you should see the algae turn red and die off. You should be able to pull it off with your fingers pretty easily at that point.

This has worked absolute wonders in my tank. It is a form of CO2 control, yes, but without any expensive systems. I love it. :)
