Intel Core I7 980X - Amazing Power And Best CPU Ever With All The Best Price
I've been using the Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition in doing my personal system for over 8 months now and it is STILL the best CPU out generally there. Intel has since made available a 990X which operates at 3. 46 GHz, however it's still an identical gulftown six-core chip. If you're looking for numbers there are websites out there that have bench'd this processor also it lives up to its namesake.
Fresh Performance
--------------------------
Hands down nothing defeats this CPU. From the time it was introduced currently, the 980X retains its crown. There isn't a compromise in performance when you throw this CPU into the body. It IS a fire-breathing dragon - but surprisingly this doesn't happen get super hot for having the 130W TDP.
Don’t spend more than you have to! We already done the research for you.

Gaming Performance
--------------------------
But if the primary interest is gaming then this CPU will last well, but it is going to become largely underutilized for now. There aren't many games that effectively use 2 cores, not to mention the 6 cores you find for the 980X. That being said, it's unquestionably a "future proof" buy; you won't need a new CPU for many years.
Overclockability
--------------------------
The 980X is overclockable and hammering over 4 GHz while maintaining a stable system is perfectly feasible, provided that you're using a quality power supply, cooler and motherboard. I am using an important Gigabyte UD9 mother board, Corsair H50 Cooler with a PC Power & Cooling 750W PSU and Looking able to hit 4. 2 GHz utilizing reasonable stability. I did not purchase this CPU to overclock so that i leave it on stock settings... however it is nice to know that generally if i needed to, I can pull an extra 900 MHz away from 980X.
Heat Emission
--------------------------
The 980X is rated at 130W TDP, which means it will eventually radiate that much heat at comprehensive power. Even at full power the particular Corsair H50 keeps my 980X close to 40-42 degrees C. The variance depends plenty on room temperature, and idle temps for me are in the 30-32 degrees T range. I would say that the H50 may be a "must have" accessory because it is really so effective and remarkably quiet. Any jackass can easily slap together a noisy "gamer" COMPUTER; it takes skill to build a very high performance system that is whisper relaxing.
Buyer Mentality:
Why shell out a grand to get a CPU alone when I can get a system for less?
--------------------------
There are immediate purposes like reducing render times and enabling a slightly higher degree of multi-tasking, but there is also LONGEVITY. When you purchase a "bang for those buck" CPU or an otherwise cheaper unit, it will be outdated with 6-12 months. The 980X is so powerful that it will still be competent in 2-3+ years or lengthier, and a side benefit is that in this time application performance should theoretically improve as programmers optimize for CPUs which happen to have more than 2 cores. When you consider that one could buy one CPU and have the software last 3 years or longer, its relative cost is suddenly significantly less - not to mention the overall superior performance you enjoy while having this CPU in any system.
