Renting a Green Screen Studio
So you are a beginner film maker and you would like to rent green screen studios to make your film masterwork. There are a variety of reasons why you would need to rent a green screen studio and among those reasons is that you most likely have some nifty videos you want to incorporate in a particular scene. Regardless of your reason for using a green screen studio, you need to pay close attention to the place that you're going to hire. A lot of care should be given since the studio pretty much defines the whole backbone of your production. Far more than post-processing, the production of the film rests greatly on the studio. It is about as vital as having good actors so do not take it for granted.
What should you look for when hiring good green screen studios? Consider location. If your production team is based in San Diego for instance, try hard not to go past the state solely for a green screen studio. The cost that it would take for you to travel and transport your whole production crew from states that are completely at opposite ends would easily overthrow your cost for the whole production. Invest in research ; there is likely a good green screen studio near your base that you can utilise without losing an arm and a leg.
Pay attention to the cost of renting a green screen studio. Keep in mind that the charge for a decent green screen studio production is mostly a product of the scale of the studio, the quality and modernity of the appliances and the professionalism of the crew that runs the place.
Here are the gear that you should roughly find in a green screen studio that you're going to lease : A stage, lighting grid, HVAC units and of course, vehicle access. All other features are merely a and but you shouldn't forget to cover the basics. It's also of course, a given that there should be make-up rooms and a room that overlooks the whole facility. You will have to direct in a substantial distance and the communication between the tech room and on the floor should always be open.
Special green screen apartments have tall grids and 3-wall cyclorama. If you can find one in your region which has these specs, it might already be a fair deal for you.
NEC and transfer switches--can I do this per code?
I want to install a transfer switch on my house. I have installed several before, but I want to install it in the main box (a 30/40 125 amp exterior, with 16 slots in use). Here is the plan:
--use the top 8 spaces for breakers I do not want on the transfer switch (dryer, garage sub, hvac, hall lights)
--Mount lugs to the bus bars in slots 9 and 10
THE BIG QUESTION--
--cut the bus bars just below the lugs so the top half of the box is disconnected from the bottom half
--Install a dp 60 (main) and dp 30 (generator) with a manual transfer interlock kit installed on them
--Wire lugs to the 60 amp breaker (#6 or larger) and wire in L14-30 male
--place rest of breakers in under transfer switch
AGAIN, the question is whether or not splitting the bus bar violates code.
As I am out of town and didn't bring my code book with me I can't quote you "chapter and verse". So I am having to rely on nearly 40 years experience when I say it violates code. It certainly does away with the UL listing. It also isn't the only/best way to go about accomplishing what you want to do. But I applaud your desire to install a transfer switch.
If I had more time available tonight I would give this more thought and one mans opinion on other options. Hopefully one of the other regulars will have time available.
To clarify something. The only panel I know of where spaces 9 & 10 would be next to each other would be Zinsco. Is that the brand you have? In all others (assuming single phase residential) the ninth space down would be # 17 ("A" phase) and the 10th space would be #19 ("B" phase) and you could put a 2 pole breaker there.
Got to go, sorry.
