Oil Burner Temperature Control/Thermostat Reading Issue?
I own a Weil-McLain oil fired boiler. One of the thermostats (honeywell circular dial style which you turn to desired temp on top, and reads actual room temp on bottom) will only go to about 62 degrees on the room temp, no matter if i turn desired temp to above that mark
So far i replaced the thermostat, new wiring from thermostat to zone valve, and now the zone valve as well, however still seeing the same problem
I have 2 other zones in the house that are functioning fine
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks
Make sure the zone itself has no issues.
Make sure the zone valve is installed correctly.
Make sure that the flow through the valve, zone, and back to the boiler to be reheated is correct.
Measure the temp. of the water or medium which circulates through each zone... Is it the same?
Sometimes a zone can get air in it and cause an airlock or pocket that will reduce its heating capacity.
If the system is old look to flush it out and refill and purge the air out.
Some systems have (in line) balancing valves that can be adjusted to balance fluid flow pressures to other zones. Is there air captured in that circuit out there in the zone?
Note if it is the Round Honeywell T-87 Thermostat. It has inside the removable cover a heat anticipation slide adjustment. First go to your zone valve and read the amperage rating (stamped) or printed on the valve somewhere. Read the amps. rated and go back to your Thermostat and set the slide to match the valve amp. number. This will match your thermostat to the valve and the control (off to on) will be correct. I hope I gave you a few things that will help.
