Electronic Furnace Control
Electronic Gadgets to Stay Warm
Staying warm in the dead of winter can sometimes be a struggle, especially if you are trying to save money by not turning the furnace up too high. Since the electric bill is usually easier to pay than the gas bill many people might find it easier to stay warm at home or even in the office with these electronic gadgets and devices made to keep you toasty and warm.
One of the most common devices used to increase the temperature in your house or office is a space heater. Space heaters are great for warming up one small room or just the area of space that you spend the most time. There are several types of space heaters available including the tower space heater, vortex heater, and even a Silent Space heater. Tower and vortex heaters both have fans that circulate the heat around the room and easy to control temperature with the turn of a knob. The Silent Space Heater on the other hand does not have a fan and is virtually unnoticeable in a room except for its exceptional heating capabilities.
Along with a space heater, which can be used both at home and in the office, you can also keep yourself warm in the office with a Heated Shawl and Lap Blanket. The great thing about this warming gadget is that it doesn't take any extra electricity because it hooks right into your computer via the USB port. When you start feeling that chill simply pull the heated shawl out of your drawer and plug it into you laptop or desktop computer. With the included button to hold it in place it is easy to continue typing and working while staying warm.
Although you may not want to use this next gadget in the office, a heated mattress pad is a great device for staying warm while you sleep. Night time hours are ideal times to turn down your heat to save some money but you also want to stay cozy while you sleep. Putting a heated mattress pad on your bed will allow you to do both. Many electric mattress pads made now are much safer and more comfortable than mattress pads of the past. They include safety features such as a safety system that monitors the voltage and current of the mattress pad to avoid electric malfunctions. The padding in many heated mattress pads is also improved to the point that you can't even feel the wires as you lay in bed.
If you're looking for simple ways to bring some extra heat into your home or office check out these electronic devices and find which ones might be best for you.
I have a nordyne propane furnace that wont light?
my propane furnace wont light. I tested the ignitor and it doesnt seem to have an open in the circuit but before i removed it i tested the voltage going to it. the box feeding power to the ignitor says it is a 24v ignitor but only putting out 15v to the ignitor. I searched the internet for the igniter and cant find a source for united technologies electronic controls. i dont know if it is a smart valve. The valve is a G ROBERTSHAW-GRAYSON.any help would be greatly appreciated
That is a big voltage drop. It depends on your meter the ohms/volt ratio on some can load the circuit and give you an inaccurate reading. Try taking the ignitor out and see what your reading is. I doubt the valve is bad, I think you may need a new ignitor. I know there are some that have like a little mirror that reads the color of the ignitor before it allows the valve to turn on.
