Have I reduced my "Carbon Footprint?
I now heat my home to 75 degrees using anthracite coal. I use just a little bit more than 3 tons per heating season. I used to burn 700 gallons of #2 fuel oil to achieve 68 degrees and used electricity produced from a coal fired power plant to operate the oil burner. I now also heat my domestic hot water from my coal stove and my electric hot water heater is only used in the summer months when the stove is not in use. Many complain that burning "smokeless" anthracite or hard coal pollutes the air. I agree it does but I think I produce less pollution by burning coal directly in my home than all that oil and electricity that comes from commercial power enterprises. Please advise: Ct Gregor
