Hydroponic Growing Trays Filled With Nutrient Rich Solution

With more people adding hydroponic growing systems to their gardening efforts, there are a few things that must be known about the hydroponic growing trays that are needed for this kind of endeavor. Hydroponic trays are the very life blood of the entire system because they hold the nutrient solution which the plants thrive on.

Also known as flood trays, these hydroponic trays are usually made of water proof plywood or plastic. In order to give support to the plants as they grow or produce, some type of medium or substrate is necessary for the root system to latch onto. This can be slab trays floating freely in the solution or gravel, ground up coconut shells or other natural occurring substance at the bottom of the trays.

Hydroponic growing trays are not stand alone elements of the system. You will also need to be able to circulate the nutrients throughout the system as well as distribute oxygen. An aeration bubbler is often used for this purpose and is placed at the bottom of the hydroponic trays. The aerator should not be placed under the medium so as not to restrict its flow.

After the plants have sprouted in the germination system, they should be moved to hydroponic growing trays so that they can continue their growth. The roots only will be placed in the nutrient solution and the plant will be held suspended with collars. If substrates are being used for the hydroponic trays the roots should also be placed into the pockets provided.

Now it is time to flood the hydroponic growing trays with the nutrient rich solution so that they will begin to receive everything that is needed to sustain their life as well as continue to grow. It is necessary to check the pH of the solution on a weekly basis in order to maintain a favorable environment for optimal plant growth. This will provide you with information needed to add pH adjuster as needed to either lower or raise it as required.

Every four weeks the nutrient solution in the hydroponic growing trays should be drained by removing the plug at the bottom. For those with plants growing outside the hydroponic trays, it would be a good idea to use this solution to feed these. Once the solution is completely drained out, place the plug back into the drain hole, and fill the trays again with a fresh nutrient solution.

Once the techniques described above have been mastered, all that needs to be done is to sit back and watch the plants grow and begin to produce. Other techniques can begin to show up in the master gardeners skill level such as cloning that will allow for the continued production of beautiful plants.

Hydroponic growing trays are only part of the systems that are available to help the novice to the experienced gardener create the kind of plants they wish to keep their green thumbs active. Since hydroponic systems do not take up as much room as traditional gardens, and since some systems can be stacked for greater potential for growth, the possibilities are endless for what can be done with hydroponic trays filled with nutrient rich solutions.

The Art Of Tray Washing Described

All types of trays are used throughout the food industry such as: cooking trays, wire baskets, baking sheets, distribution crates and internal production trays and they all need to be kept hygienically clean; this is achieved through the process of tray washing.

Obviously tray washing can be done manually, using semi-automated single tray washers or via fully automatic tunnel tray washers. Whichever one is used will depend on the capacity needed. Most of this specialist machinery has to be used with a specially formulated liquid for tray washing. Tray Wash is an alkaline low foam detergent formulated for use in commercial tray washing machines found in food processing factories.

The smaller manually operated tray washing machines can handle up to thirty-two trays an hour, its advantages being that it will have a small footprint and use only eight kilowatts of power or so. Whereas the fully automated ones run as high as three thousand two hundred in an hour, a massive increase of over one hundred times more, but this needs a dedicated room as well as a huge power draw down.

If tray washing is not done on the premises and is, instead, contracted out then when one is looking at outside contractors one should ensure a few points. One needs to ask; do they have a controlled wash process? Are all labels removed? Is there is adequate temperature control? What detergents are used? Are the trays dried? Are they tested for bacteria? Do they allow customer inspections? Do they deliver and are the trays wrapped protectively?

Another way to do things would be to actually rent your trays. This would negate the need for tray washing however this can be one of the most expensive ways to go and is perhaps only useful if used in the short term for unexpected increases in use.

Your recommendation for commercial CD manufacturer, please?

I'm looking for recommendations of companies - based on your personal experience - who manufacture CD's for distribution.

We do not need mastering services or anything other than CD duplication and packaging. I am looking for standard jewel cases with color front inserts and tray inserts. Color printing on the CD would be nice, but not required. CD's and NOT CD-R's are preferred.

We are looking for a small run like 300 or 500, which seem to be hard to find in CD's. 1,000 is not out of the question.

If you think this question belongs in a different category, I'd appreciate your suggestion. I can't find where "working" musicians hang out here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

CD Replication is what you would be looking for since with CD duplication CD-Rs are used. If you do not know the difference between the two processes, see http://www.burnsmart.com/news-duplication-vs-replication.html

Minimum quantities for replication are usually 500 or 1,000 discs depending on the company. See the following page for prices http://www.burnsmart.com/cd-replication-jewel-case.html

Hope this helps.
