Help! How can I calculate BTU's or Watts from this data from a heating system?
Relative humidity of air at vacuum side of rotary vane pump (which then pumps the air through the heat exchanger): 30%
Air flow rate through heat exchanger: 15 liters/min.
Air pressure in heat exchanger: 20" water column (vent to 1 ATM)
Inlet temperature: 7 degrees F
Outlet temperature: 111 degrees F
Please calculate, and show the formula, BTU/Hour or Watt Hours.

Paul - I greatly appreciate and understand your answer; however, does it not ignore pressure and humidity? I understand these two factors to have a significant impact.
My answer is 0.0173KW or 0.0164BTU/S..
fIRST off i substituted deg F to deg C and li/min to kg/s.. (density of air is 1.2kg/m3) for unit cancellation puposes and i always perefer metric system better..
now your question is qute simple.. use Q=m(Cp)(deltaT)..
Q is your heat gain/lose.. m is the mass... Cp is the specific heat of air 1kj/kg-degC and delta t IS The temperature increase...
Q = (0.0003kg/s)(1kj/kg-degC)(43.89-(-13.89))=0.0173kW or kj/s...
to convert kj to BTU.. 1BTU = 1.055kj
Not at this scenario... because the inlet and outlet temps. are already the "actual" temps. which actually includes the parameters caused by pressure and humidity..
