How often do HVAC systems need to be cleaned?
My home is 11 yrs old and the duck work has never been cleaned out. Is it important to have this done and if so, how often? Also, what is your estimated guess at how much the following should cost? (thx)
-Clean ductwork
-Clean 8 out takes and one in take
-Blower motor and assembly clean
-Evaporator coil serviced
-Disinfect system
-Install new digital thermastat
-Clean out dryer vent
a lot of that as far as the operation of the system goes is not needed. duct work cleaning unless you or your family suffers from allergies is a bit of a racket.
the indoor and outdoor units should be serviced once each season. (furnace in the winter, ac in the summer.) this involves cleaning the outdoor coil for sure, inspecting electrical components, checking refrigerant charge, and cleaning furnace components as needed.
now, you can do the digi t-stat and dryer vent yourself, but if you want to pay someone to do it, expect about a 200 dollar bill, give or take based on the cost of the t-stat.
a winter/summer service call is about 125.00 plus whatever actual parts they say you need replaced as well as any refrigerant they say you need. price can go WAYYYY up, but they will do the inspection and give you a report for 75.00 to 125.00
i have no idea what a reputable company would charge to clean out your duct work. just get several estimates.
i would have a reputable hvac company, then i would use a different company to do the duct cleaning. two different things entirely.
