Over the last few months we have been working to give Nspire, Youth Assistant and Children’s Assistant the ability to take attendance using Biometric technology. Biometric attendance tracking gives ministries using an Nspire product the ability to record attendance quickly and accurately using only a fingerprint.

The use of fingerprint scanning technology has become more widespread over the last few years. Everything from grocery stores to amusement parks have began to use biometric fingerprint scanning for the security benefits and reliability. As for ministry, biometric fingerprint attendance will take attendance tracking programs to a level that increases efficiency and security.

Biometric fingerprint attendance will provide a solution to ministries that need an attendance program that is secure but does not rely on individuals to remember a id card. An individual can simply scan their finger and Nspire, Youth Assistant or Children’s Assistant will identify the person and mark them as present for the event. If the person is a new visitor, you will be able to log them into the event immediately by creating an individual record for them on-the-fly and recording their fingerprint; all directly out of the Scan Console.

The buzz about fingerprint attendance has created a lot of excitement over the last few weeks. We are just as excited about this new feature as everyone else and we are looking forward to bringing it out in our next release. The first question everyone wants answered is how much and then what do I need to do it? As for cost, we will have pricing available mid to late October at the time of the release. All you will need to take fingerprint attendance is our software add-on and our fingerprint reader; pretty simple.

This sounds really neat…I am wondering about the cost for fingerprint readers, though. It would be great to put one in each classroom…

Wow. This is great. When we used UPC bar codes to track the people in our church, it felt really wrong–it made coming to church feel like a trip to the grocery store, or something out of “Left Behind” (aka “Thief in the Night II”).

It’s nice to see NSpire moving back towards a more personal touch.

I would like to have more information on this.

Give us a Round about number for how much this will be to add to an average church 4 scanners? are you planning on charging additional monies just for the software? So this is a pay for feature? please let us know I want to buy as soon as it comes out will not be happy if i am paying for more software. I do need to get my budget ready for this cool addition though. Give us some numbers.

Our Children’s Ministry has been looking for a new way of taking attendance. We have been through too many notebooks and pens!

Sounds Awesome!! Disney World does it and look how many people go through their gates. I receive that. in Jesus Name.

I completely agree with Lex. Why use UPC codes? They are so unnatural. God has already equipped all of us with a natural UPC–our fingerprints.

I just hope we never see this technology appear in grocery stores. That would scare me.
